Hallo zusammen,

🇬🇧 ENGLISH

Hello everyone,

With 07.00.40, we are moving into the next round of testing and intend this version to be our release candidate. Since the last published beta, 07.00.33, we have mainly reworked the update process, module detection, and diagnostics.

Here’s what’s new:

Updates via the browser
Your computer can download the firmware from the internet and then transfer it to the Commander. This is particularly useful for an isolated model railway network: a LAN connection to the layout and Wi-Fi on the computer for internet access. Direct downloads by the Commander remain available as an alternative.

Download module firmware only once
A compatible firmware package is stored on the Commander and automatically reused for other matching modules. There is no longer any need to switch the firmware source manually. Each target module still requires individual confirmation.

Diagnostic export for support
Under System → Diagnostics, you can download the device status, logs, and module information as a file. Nothing is sent to us automatically. If an error occurs, please export the diagnostics before restarting, whenever possible.

Fewer additional bus queries
Opening the feedback monitor no longer automatically reloads channel names from the bus. Known names remain stored in the browser; if necessary, you can manually reload them from the module. Before doing so, please stop the layout and disconnect any other live clients.

Improved handling of older modules
Responses from older firmware versions of the 8-GBM V2 and 8-GBM-P V2 are now taken into account. Missing version information from older V1 variants no longer triggers a generic bus warning at the top of the page. Actual scan errors and bootloader notices remain visible; updates for V1 modules remain disabled.

Updates normally move forward only
Older versions available on the server are not offered as regular Commander updates. Deliberately restoring an older version from a file remains possible in Expert Mode—with explicit confirmation of the target version and all validation checks still active.

We have also made fixes for large bus configurations, interrupted uploads, and connection monitoring. This does not mean we are claiming to have resolved every previously observed disconnection—your feedback on this is particularly important.

Gruß
